As a Medical Qi Gong Practitioner, I support your vitality using energetic techniques informed by shamanic Eastern practices.
WHAT IS MEDICAL QI GONG (MQG)?
The ancient Chinese developed various practices to increase vitality, promote health and facilitate wellness. These practices, honed over 2000 years, inform many disciplines today, including the martial arts (eg: Tai Chi), Chinese medical approaches (eg: acupuncture) and movement and wellness practices (eg: yoga and Qi Gong.)
Qi Gong means the “skilful cultivation of life force energy.” Medical Qi Gong (MQG), also called Qi Emission, aims to balance an individual’s energies to promote vitality and wholeness.
MQG sessions may be offered to individuals, fully clothed, typically covered with a sheet and/or blanket, on a massage table, while the practitioner works to balance the client’s energies. Alternatively, sessions may be offered to individuals or groups as a guided series of movements, paired with breath and intention/visualization, to cultivate a more balanced energetic flow.
Sessions may be offered in person or remotely.

What does a medical qi gong session look like?Individual sessions:
Most individual sessions are offered on the massage table. Following (seated) discussion to determine the focus of the session, you will lie down, fully clothed (shoes removed), on the massage table and be covered with a sheet and blanket. I will then work to balance your energies using Qi emission (Qi Gong) techniques. This usually involves some touch through clothing and/or on exposed skin; I will inform you in advance and/or at the time, to ensure your consent. If at any point, you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the session, it is your responsibility to inform me, so I can stop the session and address your discomfort. Group and/or Individual movement-based MQG: I will guide you through a series of movements, paired with breath and visualizations, designed to rebalance your energies and promote energetic flow. The active movements of MQG are typically experienced as gentle, however, if you experience discomfort while performing the movements, please communicate this immediately to me so that the movements can be adjusted or stopped. During or after a sessionMQG has the potential to cause significant shifts in energy, during and following a session. You may notice, during or after a session, various physical sensations and emotions in response to the energy work; some of these may relate to previously suppressed emotions and may be uncomfortable. Please let me know during the session if you are experiencing discomfort, so that the energetic work can be adjusted or stopped as needed.
MQG is generally safe, however some clients may experience light-headedness after a session. If this occurs, please remain seated in the clinic area until the light-headedness clears; if the symptoms persist, please ask me for guidance. After a session, should significant discomfort arise, please seek support from licensed medical providers (physicians, nurses, psychologists, etc) as required. Please also let me know prior to or at your next session. |
